The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is staged as a celebration of music filled with the yuletide air. Just like other annual musical shows, the RCCS displays a wonderful showcase of sorts. Original scoring and meticulously planned dance performances led by The Rockettes brings a lot of holiday feel to its audiences. Every performance singlehandedly displays the Christmas spirit in a range of lights, colors and sparkles. Every performance also comes with a story boiling down to symbolisms that speaks of Christmas.
The show features a stunning number of Santa Claus parodies brought to life by drummer boys of a hundredfold. In fact, this anticipating highlight makes RCCS a classic! Another highlight to watch out for is The Rockettes’ version of the nativity story. Here, the critically acclaimed dance troupe brings the story of Christ’s birth in a more lively perspective. An interactive approach is patterned to give younger audiences a better understanding of the story.
“Glamorous!” best describes the four-week show. Since its debut in 1933, RCCS didn’t become a disappointment. And as the show continues to grace millions of visitors, more surprises from the performers is anticipated. Just recently, The Rockettes incorporated 3D live scenes for their breathtaking performances – A first in live musical history. Titled as “The Rockettes’ Musical Journey”, the performance features new musical numbers for the “Living Nativity” and “Parade of Wooden Soldiers”. The newest Rockette batch never went a failure throughout their performance – thanks to 3D anyway.
The Radio City Christmas Spectacular, as the name suggests, is a breakthrough in seasonal productions, giving “The Nutcracker” a run for its money.
