Jersey Boys  Musical Review

Broadway aficionados must owe it to Bob Gaudio and Bob Crewe. If not for these musical greats, a theatrical production patterned with documentary elements is impossible. The two Bobs’ hit musical “Jersey Boys” is a work of non-fiction, as it is based on the story of American 60s rock band The Four Seasons.
The rock musical, which made its Broadway debut in 2005, received five Tony Awards in 2006 including Best Musical. While it doesn’t have to be compared to “We Will Rock You” and “Elvis”, the Broadway production came out as a celebration of music triumphed by friendships.
The musical clues you in to how The Four Seasons marked a name in the industry. They may not have been as phenomenal as The Beatles, The Who, The Doors and other rock quartets, but the core of their success lies beneath their genuine bond. It is a coming-of-age musical of sorts, with its fast-paced and upbeat scenes testifying the unassuming aspect of it all.
The original Broadway cast, led by Frankie Valli, will always be as refreshing as the morning sun. In fact, “refreshing” is the word that best describes The Four Season’s musicality. Every single performance from the cast is beyond genius with Tommy Devito (one-fourth of the band) as a revelation.
Unlike other jukebox musicals of today, the play involves a lot of heavy emphasis throughout storytelling. But that is clearly an addition to its entire appeal. Although the subject matter may be a little sensitive, audiences don’t deserve nostalgia while watching it. In between scenes are discourses on infidelity, rebellion and sexual innuendo, but those aren’t necessarily a shock value throughout the storyline.
The question is, is “Jersey Boys” a must-see for everyone? Apparently not! But that doesn’t mean the rock musical’s main subject proves audiences wrong.
